Buongiorno everyone! 👋
Have you ever met someone who seems to have lived ten lives in one?
They’re always ready with an anecdote, starting with phrases like, "Someone told me that…" or "I’ve read that…" or "Once I was involved in a project…".
It feels like they’ve packed a lifetime of experience and knowledge into their years.
And you might find yourself wondering, "How can you possibly be so young and have done so much?" or "When do you find the time to read so much?" or "How do you manage to fit so many projects into your schedule?".
Well, I believe that the secret lies in deliberate learning. 📘🧠
What is deliberate learning?
Deliberate learning is a mindset that anyone can adopt to become exponentially smarter.
It involves actively and consciously learning from every experience, whether it's reading a book, having a conversation, hearing a personal story, or navigating the ups and downs of life and business.
It’s about systematically and deliberately connecting the dots between different pieces of information and seeing the bigger picture. 🔍
But what exactly sets deliberate learners apart?
You can recognise them by their curiosity and the way they share knowledge.
They always have a relevant anecdote, frequently reference things they’ve read or heard, and seem to possess an endless reservoir of knowledge and experiences. 💬
By constantly connecting new information with their existing knowledge basis, they:
Memorise faster
Appear smarter and more knowledgeable
Craft compelling stories that engage even those who’ve heard them before
Some deliberate learners take their game to new heights—they combine their learning with excellent storytelling skills, making them outstanding public speakers and entertainers. 🎙️
You may think that these individuals have a gift.
But the reality is that they “simply” are genuinely curious and passionate about learning and sharing.
And they cultivate this skill daily by being open to everything that happens around them.
This receptivity helps them adjust to new situations and thrive in them.
When you can absorb whatever life throws at you, including curveballs, you can transform every experience into a piece of a broader puzzle. 🧩
Is efficiency efficient?
This mindset is crucial in today’s rapidly changing world, where static knowledge quickly becomes outdated.
A study by the Deloitte Center for the Edge examined 1,300 full-time US front-line workers across 15 industries and job levels to understand what drives extreme performance improvement.
They found that individuals with a growth mindset are more likely to embrace challenges, persist through difficulties, and see effort as a path to mastery. 🌟
This attitude helps them adapt to new environments and continuously evolve, which is crucial for thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Lifelong learners don’t just accumulate knowledge; they actively apply it to solve problems and innovate.
This proactive approach to learning helps them stay ahead of the curve and adapt to evolving circumstances. 📈
However, the study found that only 14% of US workers express this kind of passion for learning in relation to their work.
The low numbers are not due to a lack of potential but rather to discouragement to pursue intrinsic interests within rigid institutional frameworks.
Large institutions often prioritise scalable efficiency—doing things faster and cheaper—but this becomes inefficient in a rapidly changing world where workers must adapt to new challenges.
Recognising the importance of curiosity and continuous learning, we must shift from scalable knowledge to scalable learning. 🔄
This transition focuses on fostering environments where everyone can learn and grow together, moving beyond routine tasks to embrace a culture of shared, dynamic learning.
Why your business should embrace deliberate learning
Incorporating deliberate learning into your business culture can lead to exponential growth. 🚀
How?
By focusing on these 3 key pillars:
Adaptability: In an ever-changing market, the ability to quickly learn and adapt is priceless.
Innovation: Continuous learning encourages employees to bring fresh ideas and perspectives.
Engagement: A culture that values learning keeps employees motivated and engaged.
Fostering these pillars in your environment will set your business up for success, helping it anticipate future challenges and tackle them with creativity and flexibility.
I’ve met some incredible deliberate learners both in and out of business, and every day, I strive to be among them.
It’s a journey of continuous learning, curiosity, and discovery. ✨
Every interaction, every piece of information, is a chance to see the world from a different angle.
Are you a deliberate learner? How do you prioritise continuous learning daily? What strategies do you use to integrate it into your professional development?
Stay curious! 🙌

Deliberatamente scelgo di leggerti 💕
Beautiful piece of thinking! The question is how to ‘teach’ this skill to people. Not easy as curiosity is very difficult to transfer. Setting the example like sharing articles, thoughts, … it’s a good start, but it’s that enough to change people mindset? Open to thoughts.
